Hakainde Hichilema will lose next year

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema will lose next year’s election together with his members of Parliament because Zambians are unhappy with his divisive and cruel leadership, All People’s Congress (APC) president Nason Msoni has said.
Msoni said it was gratifying that even Hichilema himself was aware that things were not okay within his party, whose MPs and councillors had been rejected.
He was commenting on Hichilema’s plea during the United Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka Province mobilisation meeting Sunday.
Msoni said even the UPND supporters had rejected their own representatives.
“This is a clear and real message Mr Hakainde Hichilema received from his own party officials. And it is good that his own people told him that they did not want his MPs or any other person. So, how can he win an election if the people have rejected his team?” Msoni wondered.
He said the assertion by Hichilema that he had been informed that he would win the presidency but both his MPs and councillors would lose fell short of the actual truth.
Hichilema was in panic mode, no wonder he would not allow the opposition to mobilise freely and openly.
“Truth be told, he will lose the Presidency, too. It is highly unlikely that voters would vote against his MPs and councilors but instead settle for Mr Hichilema as President. This cannot happen; his story is there. Look at where the previous leadership lost, the trend is clear and the same. You cannot lose MPs and councillors but win the presidency. That cannot happen. The same people who vote for the president are the same people who will vote for those other categories,” he said.
Msoni said the general voting pattern for most voters was the councillor, MP and president.
“They usually vote for the same political party, starting with the councillors, MPs and the president in that order. To imagine that voters vote against your MPs and councillors but then decide to vote for you as president is living in an imaginary world,” he said.
He urged the State operatives who informed Hichilema about him winning while his MPs and others were losing to deliver the correct message to the Head of State.
Msoni urged Hichilema never to waste resources but rather start preparing to exit State House.
“Arguably, the persons or institutions of state that informed Mr Hichilema that he is going to win the Presidency in the 2026 elections were by far less candid and honest in their report. It is obvious to any right-thinking person that Mr Hichilema didn’t get the correct perspective that is obtaining on the ground,” he said.
He said Hichilema would lose the 2026 election, as no Zambian was interested in electing him again.
“Zambians are suffering much more than ever before in the history of the country. Zambians have seen what division is in a country like ours under this regime. Young people feel unsafe, hopeless, our women, our girl child and people with disabilities have no future under this government. So, clearly, the unsolicited truth is that he will miserably lose the presidency, too. In a nutshell, it is a political disaster in the waiting for Mr Hichilema,” said Msoni.
