Lungu’s body not moved – Family

By Mast Reporter

THE family of the late former president Edgar Lungu has dismissed as fake and insensitive reports suggesting that his remains have been secretly moved to Spain.

Speculations have emerged suggesting that the remains of the late former head of state may have been moved to an unknown place in Spain amid ongoing talks with the government over his burial site.

But family spokesperson Makebi Zulu said yesterday the family would not dignify lies and such reports with a response.

Former president Lungu died in South Africa on June 5, and issues surrounding his burial site remain unresolved.

The Pretoria High Court ordered that his body be repatriated to Zambia for a state funeral, a decision and order the Lungu family appealed against, arguing that it disregarded the wishes and rights of the family.

The decision stalled the repatriation of the remains, while talks with the government began.

The court threw out the appeal.
