Findlay fails to appear in court

LUSAKA businessman Valden Findlay failed to appear in court on Tuesday because of illness.
Findlay, who is charged with possession of more than one passport, is in South Africa receiving medical treatment.
When the case came up for continued defence before acting chief resident magistrate Silvia Munyinya, Findlay’s lawyer Charles Changano informed the court that his client was still in South Africa for treatment. “Your Honour, the accused, who is my client, is still not yet back from South Africa. My client is currently receiving medical treatment in South Africa and will be before court once he is back in the country,” Changano said.
Magistrate Munyinya adjourned the matter to September 5, for continued defence.
It is alleged that on October 03, 2022, in Lusaka, Findlay allegedly acquired a Zambian passport number ZP 021382, purporting to have lost a Zambian passport number ZP 013259, contrary to the fact.
Findlay is also accused of possessing multiple travel permits when he acquired a Zambian passport number ZP021382 purporting that his other passport ZP013259 had gone missing, and having a fake entry endorsement stamp for Mwami immigration border in his passport number ZP032178.
