UPND is violent, forcing people – Mwansa
By Tony Nkhoma
THE UPND must not force Zambians to like and vote for them in 2026, if they don’t want to, The Zambia We Want president Ernest Mwansa has said.
Mwansa said Zambians have the right to choose their leaders, hence forcing them will not work in a democracy.
He said Zambians were going through hard times and all they wanted was a change of Government for a better Zambia.
“When people don’t want you, don’t force them, people should say what they want. People are hungry, people have many problems, they are going through hard times and want to make a better decision during the 2026 general elections,” he said.
And Mwansa said the UPND had resorted to violence to vent their anger on the foreseeable defeat in the 2026 general elections.
He said the UPND had already sensed defeat ahead of the 2026 General elections, hence resolving to illegal means such as serious violence, crimes and theft among other grave criminal activities.
Mwansa’s comment comes shortly after suspected UPND carders pulled down and stole the Zambia We Want Party wall signages at their secretariat in Lusaka recently.
‘‘We just wrote the Zambia We Want and we just put the trumpet as a symbol, meaning that this is the time to resound their (UPND) exit from government. Now they have destroyed our property. We don’t want politics of violence. We want politics of sense,’’ he said.
He said the UPND would more violent ahead of next year’s election because they have already sensed defeat.
Mwansa has since urged Zambians to be more careful with the UPND as violence was the only means to intimidate people and venting anger.
“What kind of politics is the UPND practicing? They have noticed that they are losing the 2026 elections. They have sensed defeat. We don’t want politics of violence,” Mwansa said.
Mwansa said the UPND do not know what they were doing saying the people of Zambia were more than ready to change the trajectory.
