Motor cycle rider turns human body rider

By Charles Musonda

A COURT  has granted Michael Zulu  divorce after he testified that he found a motorcycle parked at a house his wife Elizabeth Banda was renting while its rider was busy riding her inside the house.

Zulu, 41, a part-time security guard of Lusaka West, told magistrate Moses Lubuwa he married Banda, 33, of Desai Compound in 2021 and found her with a child and a pregnancy from her former husband.

He said he became uncomfortable when the man started visiting their matrimonial home regularly on the pretext of escorting back his young son who liked visiting his father’s home.

Zulu said when they were living in Zingalume Compound, another day he saw his wife with another man whom he did not know on a motorbike.

When he asked her Banda told him he was her mother’s neighbour in Desai Compound.

He said after they started differing over her suspected infidelity she shifted from their matrimonial home and started renting  a house on her own in her home Compound, Desai.

When Zulu went to see his children at her new home, she was not there.

He only found a child washing plates who told him the avocado seed that was in one of the plates was from the fruit the motor biker had brought for Banda the previous night.

Zulu said after that she shifted to another house and when he finally located her new residence, he found a motor cycle parked outside.

He found its rider in a disturbing posture with his wife inside the house.

After that encounter, he sued the man for adultery.

Zulu said he recently won a K15,000 compensation claim against the biker.

In her response, Banda said they only enjoyed peace for two days in their marriage because Zulu wanted to marry another woman so that he could balance the number of children as he found her with a child and a three month-old pregnancy.

She said Zulu ‘s relatives did not like the fact that she was already a mother when he was marrying her. On her being found with the motor cycle rider inside the house, Banda did not put up a strong cross examination apart from admitting that the man paid her a friendly visit.

She said she she ran away from home to start renting on her own because Zulu demanded for his conjugal rights when their second child was only two weeks old.

Banda said when the baby was three weeks old she gave in to his demands but he wanted to make it a habit.

In judgment, Justice Lubuwa granted Zulu’s request for divorce on grounds that love in the marriage had ended and that the couple had not lived up to each other’s expectations.

He said Banda’s failure to challenge the adultery claim showed that there was unfaithfulness on her part.

Having sexual love affairs outside marriage was not a solution to marital disputes.

He said neither of the spouses deserved compensation.

Banda had contributed to the breakdown of the marriage because of her adulterous and unreasonable behaviour.
